Sunil Srivastava is a seasoned banker with nearly 45 years of experience in banking and finance in India, most of which was with the State Bank of India, where he served as Deputy Managing Director. SBI is India’s largest public sector bank, with a 23% market share by assets and a market cap of USD 86 billion.
In his final role at SBI, he led corporate banking, overseeing credit and banking services for large corporate clients. Prior to that, he was Deputy Managing Director for Corporate Strategy and Digital Businesses, responsible for driving the bank’s entry into digital financial services. His work included initiatives in wealth management, e-wallets, mobile banking, e-branches, and strategic partnerships with institutions and fintechs.
Over his long career at SBI, he held roles across corporate, investment and retail banking, working in multiple geographies.
Sunil now serves as an Independent Director on several company boards, advises fintechs, and acts as Senior Advisor to the World Bank for its Energy and Extractives programme in India. His blog is available at theindianbanker.in
